About

Rubina Singh is a social designer, design justice practitioner, and textile artivist based in New Delhi, India. She values designing programmes through a feminist, participatory, and intersectional lens. She currently leads her independent design practice focused on making design processes accessible and contextual for Indian communities.

She has been working in the human rights sector for over a decade and seeded Rafunaama (www.rafunaama.com) - a platform for South Asian textile artivists. She also serves as an advisor for the Inclusive Design Jam and co-leads the Design Justice Network's India Node. She has previously been shortlisted for The Queen’s Young Leaders Awards for her work in the field of gender rights as well as received an honorary Associate Fellowship with the Royal Commonwealth Society.

She is currently developing the White Paint Archive to document photographs of protest art created during the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protests in India (2019-2020), preserving images of artwork that was physically erased by the ruling Indian government in March 2020.
