BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Beate Pittnauer is an art and photo historian, researcher and writer of Austro-Hungarian descent. She specializes in 20th-century European photography, currently writing her Ph.D project on the topic of the humanist photography, supported by research stays in Lausanne, Lyon and Paris. She was a fellow of the research training group The Photographic Dispositif (DFG) at Braunschweig University of Fine Arts, funded by the German Research Foundation.
