RESEARCH NETWORK MEMBERSHIP TERMS & CONDITIONS

By submitting this application, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Eligibility

The ARCHIVO Research Network accepts applications from affiliated and independent researchers, scholars, visual artists, curators, archivists, and professionals engaged in research-oriented practices within visual culture. Applications from a wide range of disciplines, including photography and film studies, new media, art history, anthropology, museology, cultural studies, and related areas are encouraged.

2. Membership

All applications are subject to review. ARCHIVO reserves the right to accept or decline any application based on its relevance to the Network’s scope and objectives.

3. Fees

There are no registration costs associated with submitting a membership application. Upon acceptance, membership is subject to an annual fee, according to the applicant’s status:

• €25 – Students

• €50 – Professionals

• €100 – Institutionally supported members

Membership is activated upon receipt of payment and remains valid for a period of one year.

4. Membership Benefits

Membership provides access to a range of exclusive privileges, including:

• Access to the ARCHIVO intranet and media library

• Complimentary admission to online events

• Free attendance at the annual conference Reframing the Archive

• Discounted rates on ARCHIVO Education programmes and the Archivo Press catalogue

Members may also access additional opportunities, including participation in Reading Groups, publication in PHOTOFILE, co-organisation of Open Sessions, and involvement in the international conference Reframing the Archive (subject to peer review).

5. Participation and Conduct

Members are expected to engage respectfully and professionally in all ARCHIVO activities.

The organisation reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership in cases of inappropriate or disruptive conduct.

6. Use of Materials

All materials made available through the Network—including recordings, publications, and internal resources—are intended for personal and research use only. Redistribution or reproduction without prior permission is not permitted.

7. Communication

By becoming a member, you agree to receive communications related to Network activities, including events, meetings, and opportunities. Members may opt out of non-essential communications at any time.

8. Amendments

ARCHIVO reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time.

Members will be informed of any significant changes.

9. Data Protection and Privacy (GDPR Compliance)

ARCHIVO is committed to protecting your personal data and ensuring compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).

By submitting a membership application, you consent to the collection and processing of your personal data for the purposes of administering your membership, facilitating participation in Network activities, and communicating relevant information about programmes, events, and opportunities.

Personal data collected may include, but is not limited to, your name, institutional affiliation, contact details, professional information, and any materials submitted as part of your application. This data will be processed lawfully, fairly, and transparently, and will not be shared with third parties without your explicit consent, unless required by law.

Your data will be retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected. You have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data, as well as the right to restrict or object to its processing. You may also request data portability where applicable.
