Profile
About
I am currently a PhD candidate at Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (history program). Having submitted my dissertation in August, I am now awaiting examiners’ feedback, with degree conferment expected around mid-2027. I also hold an MA in Museum Studies and Curatorial Practices from NTU and a bachelor’s degree from New York University. During my work as a curatorial researcher at the Asian Civilisations Museum in Singapore, I contributed to exhibitions, archival research, collections documentation, and publications. My research interests are in modern and contemporary art, visual culture and archives in Southeast Asia, and my doctoral research focuses on the visual representations of indigeneity in painting and photography practices of 20th-century Sarawak, interrogating the intersections of art history and anthropology through the habituation of vision, and exploring the methodological possibilities of approaching Southeast Asian art history as an interdisciplinary and theoretically generative field.
